Ironvale Suspension Works User Manual
Version 1.0

Overview

This manual is for the people who run the Ironvale Suspension Works website: the sales and fitment desk that answers quote requests, the person who keeps the catalog up to date, and whoever writes the news, posts jobs and looks after the pages.

The website shows the catalog of suspension parts with a vehicle fitment finder, lets visitors compare parts and request quotes, lists the dealers on a map, and takes job applications. Everything it collects lands in the admin, where one admin account manages products, quotes and inquiries, dealers, news, careers, page text, pictures and settings.

How the pieces fit together

The website Home · Products · Product Capabilities · Industries Dealers · News · Careers About · Contact Visitors find parts, compare, send quotes and applications data/site.json products · dealers · page blocks quotes and inquiries · news positions and applications media list · settings images/ photos, video, PDF data/files/ résumés The admin Dashboard · Products Quotes & inquiries · Dealers News · Careers · Pages Media · Settings · Activity log One admin account signs in at /AdminLogin forms content changes lists

Visitors' forms are saved in the data file; the admin reads and changes the same file; the website shows what the admin saved, right away.

What the website does

  • Find a part. The fitment finder (year, make, model) narrows the catalog to parts made for that vehicle.
  • Learn about it. Each product page has photos and videos, specifications in US units with metric beside them, the fitment table, what is in the box and PDF downloads.
  • Ask for a price. Quote requests, product questions, dealer inquiries, warranty claims and messages arrive in Quotes & inquiries, with a count in the admin menu.
  • Find a dealer. A map of the states shows the active dealers.
  • Work here. Open positions take applications with a résumé.
The website does not take orders or payments. It collects requests; your team answers them by email or phone and records the outcome in the admin.

How to use this manual

  • Chapters 1 and 2 cover signing in and the dashboard. Chapters 3 to 11 follow the admin menu from top to bottom.
  • Chapter 12 shows what visitors see, so you know where each request came from.
  • Chapter 13 is for whoever installs the site. Chapter 14 lists every status and limit; chapter 15 answers common questions.
  • Click any screenshot to see it full size. Use the search box at the top of the menu to find a word anywhere in the manual.

  5. Finder years from and to set the years offered in the finder's Year list.
Products remember makes and models by their names. Renaming a model, or removing it, leaves products that use it without that fitment line, and visitors who pick the vehicle will not find them. To rename, add the new name, update the Fitment tab of those products, then remove the old name.

The server checks the list: Meridian: use one of the body names…, give the years as from-to…, a make listed twice or two models with the same name.

10.4 Office hours and time zone

Office hours
  • Tick the days you are open and set the opening and closing times. Closing must be after opening.
  • The hours drive the line at the top of every page (Fitment desk open until 5:30 PM, Closed now · opens tomorrow at 8:00 AM) and the hours table on the Contact page.
  • Time zone sets the company's clock for that line, the dashboard date and the times in lists. The label shows the time there now.
  • 24-hour clock shows times as 17:30 instead of 5:30 PM.

11. Activity log & My account

11.1 Activity log

Everything the admin and the website do, including sign-in attempts the server refused.

Activity log
  • Who: Everyone, Admin or Website. Search looks in the action and the item. Outcome shows Done or Refused rows.
  • The period bar starts on Today.
  • Admin actions include sign-ins, account changes, every add, save and delete of products, dealers, posts and positions, inquiry status changes and notes, résumé downloads, uploads, page saves and restores, settings and exports.
  • Website actions are the forms visitors send: quote, question, dealer inquiry, warranty, message, application.
  • Refused rows (for example a wrong password) are tinted red. The log keeps the latest 5,000 entries.

11.2 My account

My account
  • Name and Job title show at the top right of every admin page and on notes.
  • User name: 3 characters or more; letters, numbers, dots, dashes and underscores.
  • To change the user name or the password, type the Current password first. A new password needs 8 characters or more.
  • Press Save. Changing the user name or password signs the account out of every other browser.
If the password is lost, see 13.3 Locked out.

12. The Public Website

What visitors see, so you know where every request in the admin comes from.

12.1 From the finder to your inbox

Fitment finder Year · Make · Model on Home and Products Products only parts that fit, filters, compare Product page specs, fitment, PDFs, dealers Request a quote or Ask about this part gets a number: Q-5031 Quotes & inquiries status New, count in the menu Other doors into the same list: the Contact page (quote, message, warranty claim), the Dealers page (become a dealer) · Applications go to Careers instead.

The usual path of a quote request. Answer it from the admin by email or phone.

12.2 Home

Home page
  • The bar at the very top shows whether the fitment desk is open now, from the office hours in Settings, with the phone and email.
  • The page top has the fitment finder: choose Year, Make and Model and press Find parts that fit. The counts below it are live: products in the catalog, dealers and installers, years in business.
  • Below come the product families, the featured products, why-us cards, the latest news and the quote band. All of it is edited in Pages.
Home page, product families and featured products

12.3 The catalog

Products filtered by vehicle
  • The left column has the vehicle, Category with counts, Series, a price range and In stock only. The search box takes a part number, a name or a vehicle.
  • Sort: Newest first, Most viewed, Price low to high, Price high to low, Name A to Z. Grid or List view. 12 products per page.
  • The chosen vehicle shows as a chip above the results; Clear all removes every filter. The address bar keeps the filters, so a filtered catalog can be bookmarked or sent.

12.4 The product page

Product page
  • Photos and videos open full screen (arrow keys or swipe to move, Esc to close).
  • Beside the gallery: the price (MSRP, before tax and freight), stock and shipping time, what it fits, Request a quote, Find a dealer, Compare and Share this product, then the warranty and the shipping line from Settings.
  • Further down: the overview and features, Specifications in the units chosen in Settings, the Fitment table, In the box, Installation with the time and torque notes, and the PDF downloads.
  • Ask about this part sends a product question with the part number.
Specifications and fitment Request a quote window

Request a quote on a product page: quantity, name, email, vehicle and state. The visitor sees the request number when it is sent.

12.5 Compare

Compare products
  • Compare on a card or product page adds the product to a comparison of up to three. The header shows how many are chosen.
  • The table lines up price, category, series, availability, warranty, fit, install time and every specification.
  • The choice is kept in the visitor's browser; there is no account.

12.6 Dealers

Dealers page
  • The tile map shows the states with active dealers; tapping one filters the list. Search, type and service narrow it further. 12 dealers per page, Premier first.
  • Find a dealer on a product page opens this page with a note that every dealer can order that part number.
  • The Dealer inquiry form at the bottom sends a dealer inquiry to Quotes & inquiries.

12.7 News and Careers

News page
  • News shows published posts with tag chips, 9 per page. Each post opens on its own page with three related posts.
  • Careers lists open positions with department chips. A position page has the description and the Apply for this position form: name, email, phone, a résumé (PDF or Word, under 5 MB) and a few words.
A position with its application form

12.8 Contact

Contact page

The Contact page shows the address, phone, email and office hours, and three forms in tabs:

  • Request a quote: one or more products (+ Add another part, up to 12) with quantities, name, company, email, phone, vehicle and state. Companies can ask for fleet pricing here.
  • Send a message: a topic and the message.
  • Warranty claim: the part number, purchase date, where it was bought, contact details, vehicle and what happened.
Warranty claim form
Every form checks the name and email address before sending. A hidden field catches automated spam: those submissions are dropped without a trace.

12.9 Phones, light and dark

Home on a phone Catalog on a phone Product on a phone
  • On a phone the menu folds behind ☰ and the catalog filters open with Filters.
  • The moon button switches between light and dark; the visitor's choice is remembered in their browser.
  • Product news by email in every footer collects email addresses in data/subscribers.json.
Capabilities page

Capabilities, Industries and About are built from blocks, like Home.

13. Installation & Setup

For the person who installs and looks after the site.

13.1 Running the site

  • The site is an ASP.NET Core application for .NET 10. Open the folder and run dotnet run, or open AutoParts.csproj in Visual Studio and press F5.
  • It opens on Home, the start page set in appConfig/application.cfg.
  • All content lives in data/site.json. There is no database to set up.

13.2 The first sign-in

1 Run the sitefirst start 2 data/admin.jsonis created with thefirst account 3 /AdminLoginfills it in andshows a hint 4 My accountcurrent password +your own password 5 Readyhint gone, the firstpassword stops working Locked out? Delete data/admin.json and start at step 2

From the first start to your own password.

  1. Start the site. On the first start it creates data/admin.json with the first admin account.
  2. Open /AdminLogin. As long as the first password is unchanged, the page fills in the user name and password and shows them in a hint under the button.
  3. Press Sign in.
First sign-in page First sign-in box
Anyone who opens the sign-in page sees the first password until you change it. Change it before the site goes online.

13.3 Choosing your own password

  1. Open My account. A yellow box says the first password is still in use.
  2. Enter your name and job title, and change the user name if you like.
  3. Type the current password, then your new password (8 characters or more).
  4. Press Save. The page reloads; the warning, the filled-in fields and the hint on the sign-in page are gone.
My account with the first password Choosing a new password

13.4 Locked out

  • Too many attempts: after 6 wrong passwords within 5 minutes, wait a few minutes and try again.
  • Password lost: on the server, delete data/admin.json and open the sign-in page. The first account comes back, filled in on the sign-in page. Sign in and choose a new password at once (13.3). Products, quotes and everything else stay as they were.

13.5 Folder write rights

The site writes to three folders. On IIS, give the application pool identity (for example IIS AppPool\AutoParts) Modify rights on them.

FolderWhat is written
data/site.json (all content), admin.json (the account), activity.json (the log), subscribers.json (news sign-ups), résumés in data/files/resumes/
images/uploads/Photos (full, thumbs), videos (video) and PDFs (docs) uploaded in Media
temp/Admin sessions (temp/admin) and uploads in progress (temp/uploads)

13.6 HTTPS and private files

  • Use HTTPS. The session token travels in a cookie and in each request.
  • Open https://your-site/data/admin.json, https://your-site/data/site.json and https://your-site/appConfig/application.cfg in a browser. Each must answer 404. If your host serves them, block the data/ and appConfig/ folders in the server settings.
  • Résumés are stored in data/files/resumes/ and are handed out only to the signed-in admin through Download.

13.7 Backups and redeploying

  • Back up data/ and images/uploads/ regularly. Together they hold every product, quote, page, setting, upload and résumé.
  • Redeploying a new version: publishing copies the data/ folder of the project over the live one. Download the live data/ first, or leave it out of the publish, so you keep your products and quotes.
  • Turn off Remove additional files at destination, so temp/ and images/uploads/ are not deleted.

13.8 The starter content

  • The site ships with a full set of invented products, dealers, posts, positions, inquiries and applications, so every page shows how it works.
  • On the first start, their dates are moved once so they sit around the current day; after that dates stay as they are.
  • Replace them with your own: delete inquiries, applications, products, dealers and posts in the admin, and pictures you no longer use in Media.
